Windsor Decks and Gardens

Claudia Schmutzler started Beverly Glen Landscape in 1995 after 16 years in the construction industry, when an acquaintance asked her to plant an english garden. The garden, on a sprawling two acre parcel in beverly hills, was a sensation and word of mouth about Schmutzler's work quickly spread.

In 1990, Schmutzler incorporated custom deck building into her repertoire. her decks reflect a love of architecture, her background in construction and her keen eye for artistic detail and natural beauty. Schmutzler's signature "Wall of Floating Windows" has become a trademark.

The simplicity of architectural style and materials that define the homes of Schmutzler's native New England inspire her in the construction of her decks and gardens. Schmutzler's love of nature and the environment is reflected in her creative interpretations of the once-favored redwood deck. "There are so many options today when it comes to material choice. The deck you are walking on could be made up entirely of recycled, plastic shopping bags and ground up wood pallets," says Schmutzler.

"Today our awareness of the environment shapes our choices in so many ways. Clients want to know where materials come from and how their use affects the natural ecosystem. My goal is to create deck and garden environments that reflect and enhance nature and allow my clients to spend more time enjoying their lives outdoors."
